Join Beta Brothers in the GLBTQ+ Community and Allies for a online conversation with Bruce Garner, Emory ’71. Brother Warner will share his experiences as a gay man and a member of Beta Theta Pi and a volunteer for the Fraternity. The conversation will be moderated by Tommy Raimondi, Ohio ’16. For questions, or for more information email alumni@beta.org.

About Brother Garner: Bruce Garner (he/him) a lifelong volunteer and advocate, has dedicated decades to HIV/AIDS organizations, LGBTQ+ inclusion, and nonprofit leadership. He has served on numerous boards, including AID Atlanta and The Episcopal Church, where he broke barriers as the first openly LGBTQ+ Deputy of Province IV. Living with HIV for over 40 years, Bruce continues advancing equity, compassion, and community service and is known for his willingness to ask the “difficult” questions that leaders face through their service. Bruce seeks to build bridges for others and believes in working with organizations that, in the past, provided him with valuable skills. He reconnected with Beta Theta Pi over five years ago, where he learned, as an undergraduate, the valuable lessons of leadership, interaction with those who were different, and a commitment to being a man of principle in accordance with the goals of that fraternity both in college and throughout life. Bruce currently serves as the Chapter Counselor for the Gamma Upsilon Chapter at Emory University and is a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commissioner for the Fraternity.

The Fraternity Board of Trustees, Foundation Board of Directors and General Fraternity House Corporation will come together for the Winter Tri-Board Meeting February 6-7, 2026, in Fort Myers, Fla.
