Beta Theta Pi Foundation

Advancing the Fraternity’s educational mission and goals toward its vision

Impact of the Beta Theta Pi Foundation

Although a legally separate entity, the Beta Theta Pi Foundation supports the Fraternity by raising and collecting resources that are then granted back to assist Beta’s mission of developing men of principle for a principled life. The Beta Theta Pi Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization, which means all gifts and donations are 100% tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law.
The Foundation Board and staff are committed to raising and spending charitable dollars efficiently and in a manner that directly impacts young men of principle across North America. In the fiscal year 2023:

Leadership Program Participation

supported by the Beta Leadership Fund

“Support from many Betas and friends over time is what is funding the leadership programs that are building future leaders for our Fraternity and our world.” – Thom Singer, San Diego State ’89

Giving to the Beta Leadership Fund

In any given year, gifts made to the Beta Leadership Fund have the most significant direct impact on the Fraternity’s members and chapters. The Beta Foundation will use this fund in the fiscal year 2023 to provide the following critical programs and services:

  • $57,350 in need-based scholarships
  • $1,000 per chapter in Men of Principle Scholarship Grants
  • Over 96 Merit Scholarships providing $125,775 in tuition assistance
  • More than 300 on-campus chapter visits by chapter development consultants
  • Some 2,000 scholarships to make Beta’s award-winning leadership programs affordable and accessible to all
  • Local coaching and training for more than 1,500 Beta volunteers

I donate to the Beta Leadership Fund because I’ve volunteered for the Fraternity over the past six years and have seen firsthand the ways leadership programs directly benefit not only Beta brothers, but Friends of Beta like me!

Jennifer Zamora, Delta Zeta

I come from a single-income household. My mother helps me out with nearly all of my expenses right now, but some of that financial burden has been alleviated due to Beta’s scholarship program.

Kaleb Garcia, Oregon ’24

When work and personal conditions changed for my family and me in light of COVID-19, the Beta Foundation’s Relief Scholarship helped me remain involved in jobs and leadership positions on campus.

Justin Brtek, Iowa State ’22

With a need for updated and supportive study spaces for both groups and individuals, the DEA Grant Program has positively impacted our chapter’s fundraising efforts by giving alumni and friends the opportunity to show their love and support for our chapter and its members.

Lane Smith, Wichita State ’19

The Adam S. Burford Memorial Scholarship I received pushes me to continue working towards my childhood goal of becoming a physician, no matter how difficult it may be. I am truly honored to have received this gift and am so very grateful for Beta’s impact on my education!

Joshua Fernandes, Creighton ’23

Beta has afforded me the sort of mentorship and guidance I need in my life. Its focus on building bridges has taught me the value of paying it forward. I hope to help a Beta brother in the future who needs assistance as I did.

Jojo McKinney, George Mason ’21

Scholarships and Grants

In 2021-22, the Beta Foundation granted more than $300,000 directly to chapters and members in Men of Principle Scholarship Grants and both merit and need-based scholarships. For 2022-23, it’s matching that amount in order to promote the Fraternity’s commitment to the cultivation of the intellect and make the Beta experience accessible and affordable to everyone.

Foundation Ambassadors

Ambassadors contact alumni and supporters to build relationships, communicate the educational objectives of and increase support for the Beta Foundation.

The workload for a Foundation Ambassador is manageable and includes contacting 10-20 potential donors at the end of the calendar and fiscal years.

Effective ambassadors support and communicate Beta’s mission and vision, and encourage others to follow your lead by making an annual contribution to BLF.

Those interested in serving as a Foundation Ambassador should contact Director of Annual Giving Travis Robinson.

Parents and Friends of Beta

Every year, hundreds of Beta parents, spouses, fraternity/sorority professionals and other friends give to the Beta Foundation. You don’t need to be a member of Beta Theta Pi to believe in and support its mission of developing men of principle for a principled life.
