The Beta Brief provides monthly updates and reminders for chapter officers, advisors, house corporation volunteers and General Fraternity Officers. Ensure all of your chapter officers and volunteers are receiving the Beta Brief and other communication from the Fraternity by reviewing this alphabetical list by chapter of .

Beta Brotherhood Assessment Toolkit: All chapter officers and volunteers should have received your 2023 Beta Brotherhood Assessment (BBA) results. For guidance on how to read and understand BBA Chapter Report, on Lessonly. The BBA report should be an agenda item during your next executive board meeting.

Wooden Institute Registration Now Open: Summer dates are set for the John and Nellie Wooden Institute for Men of Principle — the 25th anniversary year! Three sessions will be hosted this summer: June 1-4, June 8-11 and June 22-25. Registration is now open; check here for additional information and to register by April 15. Now’s a good time to start talking to your emerging leaders to encourage them to attend.

Apply for a Merit Scholarship: The Beta Theta Pi Foundation awards roughly 100 tuition-based scholarships each year to Betas through the . Undergraduate and graduate students who are initiated members and will be enrolled as full-time students in the 2024-25 academic year are eligible to . Previous recipients are not eligible.

Giving Day Challenge: Mark your calendars for Beta’s ! Follow along March 13-14 when leaderboards go live and chapters compete during the fifth annual event. Counting alumni, student and parent gifts alike, winning chapters for most number of donors and most dollars raised will receive a complimentary catered tailgate (food and chefs provided) by either Greek House Chefs or College Fresh this fall on a date of your choice. will count toward these chapter competitions with a gift of $10 or more made on or before Giving Day Challenge.

End of Term Reporting: Timely reporting of membership statuses, academic performance and chapter operations is critical to the Fraternity’s success, resource allocation and accuracy of records. Chapters should ensure all grade reports and end of term reports are submitted on immediately. Chapter officers should carefully review its roster to ensure it reflects current collegiate members and accounts for members who have graduated or are temporarily inactive. Changes must be confirmed prior to March 1 to be eligible for credits on your General Fraternity dues/fees.

Share Your Best – Alumni Leader Open Forum: Join alumni association leaders from across Beta’s Broad Domain on February 12 at 9:00 p.m. ET and share your best practices for running your alumni association. Topics will include how to communicate to and engage with your brothers, ideas for fun events, and how to find more alumni to help lead and organize. Bring your best practices and your vexing questions to share! Facilitated by Alumni Commissioner Mike Okenquist, this event is free and advance registration is not required. Volunteer Lunch and Learn: In partnership with Social Responsibility Speaks, this month's Lunch and Learn continues conversations from November about Title IX and crisis response. All volunteers are invited to participate in this education opportunity taking place on the last Wednesday of every month from 12:00-1:00 p.m. ET via Zoom. Topics will rotate each month and be a great space for information sharing and conversation. Register for sessions, watch recordings and learn more .

Cornerstone Housing Program Insurance Renewal: Beta’s annual property insurance renewal cycle is kicking off with these upcoming dates:

  • January 31: Update Insurance Renewal Contact information. Send any changes to as soon as possible.
  • February 15: Communicate any desired changes to your coverage to .
  • March 1: Premium invoices sent to all house corporations
  • March 31: Property insurance premiums due
  • April 1: Policy year begins

Designated Educational Area (DEA) Grants: DEA Grants are a great way to help your house corporation secure tax-deductible giving. They can cover the cost of purchase, construction or renovation of educational areas in the chapter house such as a library, study room or computer room, as well as educational furnishings like computer equipment and internet access.
